The 2026 FISU World University Championship Squash is set to be a grand, exciting, and unmissable global sporting event, and it will be hosted right here at Somaiya Vidyavihar University (SVU).
Bringing together squash players from more than 20 leading universities across the world, the championship promises to showcase high-level competition, sportsmanship, and international camaraderie on a global stage.
Marking the beginning of this prestigious journey, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed between Somaiya Vidyavihar University and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The signing ceremony took place in the esteemed presence of Prof. V. N. R. Pillai, Vice Chancellor, Somaiya Vidyavihar University; Mr. Aazaz Khan, Director, Somaiya Sports Academy; Dr. Vinay Kumar Pathak, President, Association of Indian Universities (AIU); Dr. (Mrs.) Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General, Association of Indian Universities (AIU); and Prof. Dr. Binu George Varghese, Joint Secretary (Sports), Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
The championship marks another milestone in SVU’s growing legacy of hosting national and international sporting events. With world-class infrastructure, state-of-the-art facilities, and an athlete-centric environment, Somaiya Vidyavihar University is fully prepared to welcome athletes, officials, and spectators from across the globe.
